John Green, author of Looking for Alaska (restricted at Nixa HS) speaks on the benefits that public education bring to society and why students should be excited about school. For the groups driving the majority of the book challenges both nationally and statewide, it's not really about the books. It's mostly about destroying, or at least diminishing, the perceived value of public education so that those funds get diverted for their private use. U-Turn in Education remains enthusiastic about quality public schools.

At a comparable meeting on June 22, 2023, following our calls for considerable improvements in transparency by the board, the meeting was much more civil. We appreciate the board's efforts on that front.
