The BookBag Program is a summer program designed to provide children and families with the same access to books, school supplies, snacks, and products afforded them during the school year. The program runs entirely on donations and community support in an effort to support our children throughout the summer.
We hope that every student can build their own home library!
The process is as easy as 1-2-3!
1. Come to our location, grab a bag and fill it up.
2. Take it home, unpack, and enjoy!
3. Bring it back to us the next month empty...
Repeat steps 1-2-3!
We offer new and gently used books for ALL ages, snacks, school supplies, art supplies, hygiene products for all children, and sometimes we have fresh vegetables from a local garden!
We have visits from local authors who read to our children and offer an opportunity to meet them and get their books.
We do crafts with parents and children alike and try to inspire reading with art!
At the end of each summer, we offer FREE SCHOOL SUPPLIES tailored to each student's grade. During this once-a-summer event, we invite all students and parents to come pick up the school supplies requested by schools--no B+ grades here, with the help of our communities, we provide the best products, the Crayola, Ticonderoga, the Elmer's...and yes, we have notebooks and papers and binders. It is our goal that EVERY CHILD has the opportunity to go to school fully stocked for the year AND has a little library built up for themselves at home!
